Health Promotion and Education Programme

 Report for Peace Education Sexual Reproductive Health Programme

To date the SRH Programme is being run in four (4) secondary schools within the Georgetown Education District, these being: (1) Adult Education Institution; (2) International Business College; (3) Monar Educational Institution and (4) Richard Ishmael Secondary School.  Operating in these schools are a total of seven (7) volunteers who had undergone an initial training from 3rd – 5th September 2010 to function as facilitators in the above mentioned schools. Initially, ten (10) facilitators were trained, but due to unforeseen circumstance the amount trained do not reflect the number of volunteers that are actually working in the schools.

As illustrated in fig. 1. The total number of beneficiaries is 136 (45.6% males and 54.4% females) where the greatest number of beneficiaries is from Adult Education Institution while the least number of participants is from Monar Educational Institution. These have all been privileged to participate in lively and interactive sessions under some of the thematic topics like:

·        Abstinence

·        Respect

·        Trust

·        Self Esteem,

·        The Road to Life and Possible Futures 

·        Love

·        Sex

·        Sexuality and Life Skills

·        Peace and Conflict Resolution.

The volunteers have also endeavored to incorporate in each topic, the concept of conflict resolution and also examine ways in which the above mentioned topics could create conflicts and try to design ways to remedy the identified conflicts.
