Youth and Women Empowerment

VYC is presently receiving funding from UNDP under the EPTSI initiative. The project seeks to empower 100 at-risk youth of Lodge Community High School, Tucville and South Ruimveldt schools to serve as peace agents for change within their respective communities. Over 24 months, the project will implement an after-school programme focusing on peace and non-violent communication, and life skills which encompass leadership training, computer studies and organised out-door sports among other recreational activities.

The project also seeks to engage and involve youth in community development. This involves the use of structured training and mentors. By providing this structured programme to youth, we will be aiding in their development thus showing them alternatives to a delinquent way of life.

Finally, to project seeks to reduce the vulnerability of 300 unemployed youth and single mothers and assist them in meeting their livelihood needs. Project initiatives include partnering with business to find job placement, and assessing applicant’s skill levels to determine training needs.
