VYC Feeding Program (Phase 1)

VYC’s Feeding Program.
 This past week, the Volunteer Youth Corps conducted another feeding exercise  for the children in the communities of Lodge, Sophia and its surrounding environs. The Feeding exercise is part of a larger initiative to feed a 1000 disadvantaged children, 12 years and under, in schools and communities across Guyana. Hampers and nutritious meals are distributed by staff and volunteers who meets to package the meals on distribution days.
The value of one meal is GYD600.

mnp1686mnp1699agreement-signed The signing ceremony for the Grant Assistance for the Grass-roots Human Security Project (GGP) recipient took place at 11:00 a.m. on February 7, 2020, at the Volunteer Youth Corps Inc. Main Office in Lot ‘E’ Luckhoo Street, Durban Backlands, Georgetown, Guyana. The recipient of the grant assistance was, the Volunteer Youth Corps Inc. The organization received grant aid for the cumulative value of US$95,269 in grant aid from the Government of Japan to assist in their infrastructure development which will enable the organization will be able to create more ample space to carry out VYC’s activities and provide educational support to youth in Guyana.

Robotics Kits For Six Secondary Schools Implementing the STEM After-school Program

handing-out-of-robotic-kits handing-out-of-robotic-kitsimg-4905img-4975   Six Secondary schools implementing the STEM After-school program under the Volunteer Youth Corps were given 12 Robotics kits, last Thursday 12th September, 2019. The event will aid the schools in implementing the Robotics component of the STEM program for the Academic year 2019/20.  Present at the event were ExxonMobil representative – Deedra Moe, Guyana Public and Government Affairs Manager alongside Mr. Ron Robinson, Vice Chairman- Volunteer Youth Corps and Headteachers of the various schools who were the recipients of the robotics kits.

VYC’s Sixth Annual STEM Conference

Four hundred (400) of Guyana’s youths gathered, on Saturday, January 12th, 2019 for the Volunteer Youth Corps’ Incorporated 6th Annual Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) conference. Held at the Ramada Georgetown Princess Hotel, the event sponsored by ExxonMobil catered for students from approximately 14 schools across the country. In brief remarks, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), VYC, Goldie Scott, explained that since 2012, VYC has been hosting its After-School Interactive Math and Science Program, now STEM. Through support from ExxonMobil and approval from the Ministry of Education it has made a few adjustments.
